4″–8″ Heavy Duty Decorative T Hinges

I bought these as part of rebuilding a great value commodity garden shed - it had used the cheapest painted mild-steel hinges for both sides of a heavy double-door, they had clean finish, corrosion-resistant to failure. (if you buy such commodity sheds, almost always the hardware is garbage. We got ours when we bought the house, and it was on my ") These parts are well made, exactly what I expected, and work well. If you are mounting these to anything other than heavy gate-posts, and/or concerned about security of the doors, a little planning and consideration about mounting hardware is worth your time. I ended up bonding 2" thick pieces of white oak on the inside of the shed doors and its frame, and then using 2" 1/4-20 stainless lag screws into that. 4 of these per side per hinge is really strong. However anybody with a socket wrench could easily back them out and unhinge the door, if that concerns you. The solution to this is to broach out at least two of the four holes on each side, to take carriage bolt heads. This isn't too hard to do with a small hand file; the stainless is soft. I thought about it, my application is just a garden tool shed and I decided not to bother. If my yard tools get stolen I might regret that decision. This leads to my one comment for the manufacturer: why not broach out these holes to square for carriage bolts? People who want to use screws can still do so, the only thing this obviates is using counter-sunk ones. Personally I don't see the point of counter-sunk screws or bolts in this application.

I wanted this type hinge to use on shutters for log cabin. Although this is a little heavier hinge than required, I like the looks but did not use the fasteners as they were too long for my install for a shutter. Satisfied with the looks after completion. Quiet and smooth.

Not impressed. Actual hinge is thin and cheaply made, screws are so short and small that they will not hold much at all, let alone a gate! Quiet and smooth.

I installed these on the back of a utility trailer to add a swinging gate to it. After installing, the gate immediately sagged more than I anticipated. This is alright if you plan for it and pre-tension the hinge before adding your bolds. However, about a month after installing, I noticed a couple small clean finish, corrosion-resistant spots on the hinges. Hoping they don't get super rusty, but time will tell.
